Feb 2, 2023 · Cue this guide. If you’re after that Santorini stamp in your passport, we bring you not one but a whole 11 reasons why Santorini is worth visiting. It ranges from the unrivaled and uber-romantic accommodation options that crown the rugged cliffs to the blazing sunsets and the come-explore-me villages. Let’s begin….
It's just unknown outside of Europe. There will be lots of Europeans. Highly worth it though. For something quiet, you can try to get to Amorgos, lovely island in the Cyclades (same island region as Santorini). Check ferry options on Rome2Rio or Ferryhopper. There's a short ferry from Santorini to Amorgos when I tried booking in Ferryhopper.
Dec 7, 2021 · Reach Santorini by ferry, catamaran or plane. Frequent ferries and high-speed catamarans link Santorini with Athens’ main port of Piraeus, Crete and various Cycladic islands. Check OpenSeas for ferry timetables. Santorini Airport has year-round flight connections with Athens, and summertime European connections.
We didn't see the sun actually hit the water, but got a beautiful sky and peace and quiet. You can walk down the street a couple blocks and have no one around. They all go there because someone said it has the best view of the sunset. To be honest its all an amazing view in Oia.
Santorini will be very quiet & lots of places close down as of Nov 1 - reopen around easter. Still can do long walks but will be quiet. Also to reinforce that 'off-season' means something much different than it does in a lot of holiday spots.
Jun 11, 2023 · First, here’s the island of Santorini. As you can see, it forms a sort of backwards “C” that curves around the caldera (the water, which is actually a sunken volcano), and faces the tiny island of Thirasia. Oia is at the northern tip of the “C”. You might also like: A Travel Bucket List for Your 30s.
Its a small airport that can get busy as not a lot of space . I have travelled there in July , Oct , Nov and have always left 2 hrs but use Aegean & have status. We like to be at gate before line starts as there isn’t much room and it becomes like a mob seen quickly. The put it bluntly the airport is way too small for the traffic it recieves
The Hippocampus Hotel in Kamari was very nice, a block from the beach and numerous restaurants and night life, lovely walkway along the beachfront. I was for a week in Perissa and found it a good place because of the beach. i would recommend hike tour from Thera to Oia and watching a sunset in Oia.
I agree with Cnt-rd-ne-mr's travel agent that 3 days is enough for Santorini, as cocoashuter said while pretty in some parts it's also fairly disappointing. Go visit the volcano, swim in the hot springs, that was kinda interesting. Athens is not disappointing, it's just hard to find the good places as a tourist.
